Beneficial Interest

Hello
I currently have to live in my mother's house & on my income & expenditure sheet i have listed amounts for e.g.keep, contributions towards utilities etc.
I therefore thought i would be classed as lodger. However, on another debt forum i read that although the house belongs to my mother & always has, because, we are related the OR can still say i have a "beneficial interest" in the property. Is this true?
Once again i re-iterate that my mother bought the house & the deeds have always been in her name.
Thanks

Unless you have been contributing to the purchase and upkeep of the house, then you have NO Beneficial Interest, and the OR will not try to claim otherwise.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hi
Thanks for the advice.
However, i would like some advice on something that has happened since my original post.
Was doorstepped by someone from British Gas about switching back to them for gas & elec. It was a good deal & included a credit on the a/c of £40. I explained that the utilities where in my mothers name & paid by DD from her a/c. However, she was not in at this time, he said it was ok for me to sign & that this would not change the a/c dets.
What has now happened is that the trans has now gone through & the bills are now appering in my name & they have now switched to quaterly bills. I phoned BG & they will only change name back if my mum phone's them. There is no problem paying the bills but my mum now wants to keep the bills in my name & can't see why i am bothered (she knows nothing of my situation).
However, what worries me is that when i go BR if the OR finds out that the gas/elec are in my name might he use this to go for beneficial interest. Also would BG be informed i was BR & make me have pre-payment meters .
Am i worrying over nothing.
Thanks0 -
The OR is not going to ask about the utility bills, other than on your I/E. I don't think you need worry on that score. To be on the safe side, get your mum to ring British Gas and change the billing name back to hers.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser.
