Cleaning/Polishing Metal Front Door

Options
Hi all, I want to spruce up my front door as I am selling my house. It's the wrong time of year to paint it really (and I'm not that good at gloss). The outside of the door is metal (my colleague at work has already told me I am wrong!). I think it is a thin plate of metal attached to a wooden door, as the inside is wood. I was thinking I could use some type of car wax to polish it. Would this work and can any of you lovely people suggest anything?

Thanks in advance x

If its metal, a tiny bit of washing up liquid in a spray bottle with water and wipe with kitchen roll will clean it with no streaks and baby oil will polish it up to look shiney.
  • Baby oil is a good idea. I will try that.
It is painted green - about four years old and has faded a bit and dd loving stuck birthday banners on with Sellotape, which has left strips of residue. I'll get on cleaning and polishing tomorrow!
