HSBC Tracker...

Options
Hi,

Stupid Q, does anyone know how far in advance HSBC will book a re-mortgage? Would it be advantageous to open an account with them in advance?

I think I'm going to be around 65-70% LTV (with a few k floating around to nudge it back under 70 if the valuation comes back much lower than nationwide HPI says right now) so believe the base+1.69 tracker is about the best lifetime rate around without getting under 60LTV (which I don't see happening sadly, maybe possible if there was something phenomenal at that level but wouldn't be easy)

If I've missed anything anyone else has noticed that's 'better' then please feel free to let me know!

Do you have any penalties to leave your current lender and if so, when do they end?

A remortgage offer will typically last three months, so you'd need to be able to complete within that timescale.

Can't comment on HSBC specifically, for usual reason.

Cheers Kingstreet, yes penalty of 1% of loan before the 30 Jan 2015 I believe, I can double check dates but it's around then. So I guess end of October then, hopefully similar deals will still be around...

Is the rate still available? I thought HSBC had been moving their rates upwards recently.

Was on the website today at least, base +1.69 for 70LTV and base +1.49 for 60LTV IIRC
