  • Ah right understand, you mean because he is making me go to the appointment! Well I think he just wants to look at all the options which I get. I think all I can do is go to the appointment and hope they don't ask for statements going back 3 months. My account is actually switching to them on the day of the mortgage (totally not planned just the day it fell). So I guess all I can do is go and see if they request them, perhaps if I go I can look online afterwards to see if the same deal is available and then apply for that. Jus totally at my wits end with the waiting.

You could have a look at the Halifax website yourself and sort this with your OH without walking into the Branch
If he wants a FIX ask him to pick one SIMPLE

After 3 hours of nonsense with an advisor, I just went online and picked what I wanted with my current mortgage company.
Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be, just pick what you want as has been stated.

edit: I could have avoided all this if I'd been told what you have been :)

  • Thanks JustinR1979, did you just do this online with no paperwork being sent in etc? He definitely wants to go in to do the renewal which is fine I'm just trying to avoid any negativity with the bank that's all. My guess is that if they ask for bank statements I'll have to send them in and see or see if the same offer is available online after the appointment.

Halifax does not ask for bank statements, as I stated in post #10.

I'm going to be blunt - your other half is a fool. Because of your gaming etc the Halifax when they run the affordability checks " may " say ..... No sorry you can't have this super deluxe fixed rate deal ...... You stay on the standard variable rate at 3.99 and increase as the interest rates increase.... Or they may not - Halifax have been one company to operate the MMR a bit more panicky than others on new deals - I've read a few articles where they have said no to previous first rate customers

However you can just go online - pick one - no questions and rate is yours which is what I did with Nationwide.

Big risk as far as Im concerned for a nice hand holding cosy chat x

After hours with a so called expert (not nationwide) I phoned them up, ended up speaking to 3 different people who I could tell from the tone of their voices thought I was a sandwich short of a picnic. They just said is end of term, you are renewing your term, can put you through now to do it, or you can do it online.
Mine was a different issue, but same applies re no new info to be given.
You are already a customer with a mortgage, and going onto another product.
You passed all the checks and affordability when you took out the mortgage. Get it done and stop the worry :)

Thanks Densol. I think we will end up going into the shop to see what we can be offered. I'm just taking in what I've been asked for wage slips and ID. If I leave being asked for statements then we may look online to see if we can get a similar deal.
