Budget Wedding- Preston Area

Hello all, new to the forum but not this website
We are looking for a cheap wedding venue ideally all in the same location for under £2000.
Our requirements are a wedding for close venue in the late afternoon for roughly 20 people. We dont really want a wedding breakfast as it doesn't suit us. Then photos etc... Then we want to lead to our night due for around 100-120 people.
Most wedding venues we like are overpriced and also require minimum guests for wedding breakfasts which we dont want
Any advice on diy weddings on a tight budget will be greatly appreciated. We was thinking the first 6 months in 2015. Ideally around easter time

Claughton Village Hall? http://www.wyredup.co.uk/Directory/directorySearchDetail.php?ID=4122 Not Preston proper and you'd have to have the ceremony elsewhere (Preston registry office looks OK to me but you might beg to differ) but it would be fine for the number of people you want and everything else could be kept fairly cheap.
Otherwise I know it's a bit out of your budget but if you could stretch to it another option might be Garstang Golf Club which does a 'twilight' (late afternoon wedding and evening party) package for 100 people for £2500: http://www.garstanghotelandgolf.com/hotel-preston/late-availability-and-last-minute-weddings--specia
There are plenty of tips on here for cheap weddings, but in my experience I'd say work out what's a must-have, what's a nice-to-have and what you don't want, and then use that as a basis for shopping around - don't get sucked in to all the little extras if you don't actually want or need them!
Otherwise, congratulations on getting engaged and good luck with your planning!"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Again, not really Preston but Astley Hall in Chorley is lovely. Its great for photo's and the attached cafe/restaurant (Cafe Ambio) does really good food.
Preston registry office is a bit, ummm, blandit's ok-ish inside but the location is pretty dire.
ETA sorry just seen that you want 100 or so guests to evening do; I don't think they will all fit in the Cafe Ambio. There is seating outside but then you're at the mercy of the elements which in Lancs tend to be of the rainy variety.0 -

Most town & county councils will hire out venues for much less than businesses. I've just found this online: http://www.preston.gov.uk/yourservices/culture-parks-and-events/avenham-and-miller-parks/avenham-and-miller-parks-wedding-venues/
Pavilion hire starts at £300, and I don't think they can insist you use their catering service
We called in lots of favours for our similar wedding - We did a register office, church blessing, buffet late lunch & curry buffet night 'do' for 120+ at just under £3000 so it can be done! It means getting thinking very creatively, making some of your own stuff and not bothering with a few frills.
Eg, I got my silk flowers made online, jazzed up vistaprint invites with my own bits & bobs, parents paid for wedding cake as wedding present, we had a free reception venue as a friend owned a small leisure venue in the countryside (nothing posh but loads of parking & outdoor space)
Do you know keen cooks/caterers/cake makers? Do you have any friends/family who own or manage somewhere like a pub, restaurant or hotel? Can you get "mate's rates" for anything?0 -
A massive saver for us was a wedding website. No save the date cards and postage cost. No invites and postage costs. And no rsvp as it all can be done on your own website. Easy. We did ours with Wedding hand. It looks so expensive and cool too!!!!0

I'm in Preston, got married in march last year and we held our reception at St Teresa parish centre in Penwortham. Cost £300 for the whole day till gone midnight. For food we had a hog roast for 50 people cost £500 including buns, salads, sauces and cackling. (pig hand reared especially for the day on a farm in Chorley.Had a buffet in the evening cost £145 for 100 people. The whole cost of the wedding came to £2400 that's includes photography church vehicle venue, venue decorators and food, flowers and homemade invites, all attire for bride groom bridesmaids best man page boy etc. It can all be easily achieved. I enjoyed it so much, that I'm starting in the wedding business. Good luck and if you need anymore advice, give me a shout. Debbie0
