Best Shampoo

Options
Now I know that everyone is going to have a different opinion, but... I am treating myself and want some expensive shampoo. I was thinking about Redken all soft as I can get 1l of shampoo and conditioner for an excellent price, but then I started thinking about Tigi and Macadamia and Kerastase and now I don't have a clue :)

    What is your hair like?

I wouldn't class Tigi as a premium brand, they sell it in B&M ;)

    Depends on your hair type?

Not sure if it's premium but Paul Mitchell Shampoo 1 is pretty unbeatable for me, suits most hair types too.

I didn't think of Tigi bed head as premium, but oatmeal and honey has a premium price tag. Not Ojon expensive, but quite expensive.

B & m stores sell tigi. As a value for money middle of the road I find it good-the conditioner is excellent.
I suppose it may depend on your hair type though.
Kerastase do the best hair masque but not tried their shampoo.

Basically I suppose what I wanted was a straw pole and could see if there was one brand cropping up more than the others.

If I had to select a single brand, I'd opt for Aveda, and if you want to try the best of the brand, try the Damage Remedy range as IMO it's pretty faultless. The rest of the brand is also good but doesn't make my hair as soft or feel as mended.

I also would recommend Kerastase, the green range and the Elixir leave-in. There are many different ranges within that brand and it's easy enough to find one which suits what you may be looking for (eg volume, repair, bringing out colour, if you have fine/curly/frizzy hair...etc)

Pureology is also a good range and their pink or super-soft (I think it's called) range is pretty excellent too. Great for coloured hair as this is what the brand was created to deal with.

If you were looking for a mid-way brand I would recommend Redken All Soft or the Goldwell brand's mending/repairing range (can't remember what it's actually called- it's a goldern shaded colour on the front though).

If your paying yourself I'd always opt for samples but if a friend or someone else is purchasing this for you then keep the receipt so you can go back and get something more suitable if it doesn't work out for you, any reputable high street salon or concession will stand by their advice and exchange products which don't work out for you if they have initially advised you to purchase a specific range.

I like Pureology and Kerastase but unless it's something tried and tested that you absolutely love and suits your hair, then I would suggest you don't dive straight in with buying the litre or salon sized products. I once bought the 900ml bottles of Tresseme shampoo and matching conditioner and vowed never do that again as I was so utterly sick of the product and hated having bulk size bottles hanging around. The conditioner lasted for more than two years.

About eighteen months ago I made the same mistake with a massive 500ml tub of L'Oreal Absolut Repair Masque thinking it would be more cost effective than the smaller one; it's not ideal for my hair and not even half gone because you only need a teensy bit once or twice per week and I'm over it already.

I have highlighted hair that I wash nearly every day. It is greasy at the roots and bit dry on the ends. It is wavy and shoulder length with a tendency to frizz particularly underneath. I have Kerastes elixir and mythic oil - I prefer the mythic oil. I also have Redken anti snap - but don't rate it.
  • I know you said you want to treat yourself to a premium brand, I like Redken All Soft, but can be heavy on the hair, Kerastasse and some Tigi but not all, I would highly recommend the new Garnier Blended range in particular the one in the light beige packaging, the mask really is outstanding, its as good as if not better then many premium brands I've tried, could be worth a shot :)http://www.boots.com/en/Garnier-Ultimate-Blends-The-Nourishing-Repairer-1-Minute-Treatment_1422090/
