I presume there's no chance of going back to your previous job? You might not want to do that, but if it would give you security while you looked for something else, it might be worth doing. And I believe your employer has a duty to try to redeploy before making you redundant.Signature removed for peace of mind0

OP, keep your chin up, you'll be ok!! You have the collective brain power of god knows how many thousand people here to help you...
Post an SOA as soon as you have chance and we'll do what we can to help!

Don't get diverted from going over to the DFW board for advice about your loan.
I am not guaranteeing anything, BUT it is well worth getting proper advice (maybe from CCCS or Payplan. They are charities who will advise you about your debt and don't charge anything).
If your debt is big, consider the following.
Companies want to get their money back. If there is no way they will get all their money back, they will settle for some of it rather than deal with someone who can't pay. The charities above may be able to help you to negotiate with creditors to agree
- regular monthly payments which you can afford on your new salary or on benefits
- full and final settlements for LESS than you actually owe.
Your CAB or local advice centre will give you more advice and help you to sort things out. You could even ask your employer for an extra day or half day off to sort out your finances in addition to days for interviewsEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
I haven't read it all, but be positive. it could be an opportunity! Get a good job ASAP and the reduncancy money would be a bonus.
My shoddy company recently made loads redundant and they're all seem to have done well out it. Done things they wanted to do, rather than being the coporate mug, Or just got better jobs.
Every cloud..0 -

Lots of people (in my limited experience) who get made redundant say a few years later that its the best thing that ever happened to them...
I'd love to be able to quit my job and stop being the "corporate mug" but I think only a nice lottery win would allow me to do that!

Hi like many others I am SO SORRY to hear of your plight a previous respondent is quite right - 9 years with one company is excellent and you have proved your loyalty - I would also talk with ACAS - I find it incredible that just because you have moved departments you are not eligible for more redundancy.
I run a recruitment consultancy and unfortunately do see this week after week.
Try the monsters of the world and also totaljobs, jobsite, emedcareers if you are looking to work for a medical company, reed is an excellent site also - I am sure you are using all these - post your CV asap and let agencies and clients come to you too.
Best of luck0
