SSP question

Options
hello,
i have trawled the boards to find an answer to this and some of my questions have been answered, but not all.
I've been off sick for 4 weeks now with a shoulder injury and received a letter from my employers last week saying i would no longer be entitled to SSp after 25th july.
I visited the doc this morning, thinking he would say im ok to return to work, but he signed me off for another two weeks. (my job is quite heavy manual work)
This means that for the last 3 days of this lot of sick (and the doc could sign me off again) i won't be paid.
Where do i go from here? am i entitled to anything.? i receive a little HB at the mo but thats all. Where do i go to find this out, is it the job centre?
Thanks for any replies.

Do you know why your SSP is running out after such a short time? Do you have other periods of sickness which link with this one?
  • i wondered this too.
I've worked for the company for 11 months and previous to this 3 weeks i have had 4 days off.
Before this i have always worked and paid NI etc. Apart from one year where i was at college.
    Maybe someone knows why?
    Thanks

Sorry to come back with another question but is it SSP that will end or are you currently being paid a company sick pay amount (possibly half or full pay) and it is that which is ending not the Statutory Sick Pay? If it is a company sick pay scheme, check your written particulars of employment.

If it is SSP only and does not link to any other periods of sickness then it appears that your employers are giving you the wrong information. SSP runs(within a linked spell) for 28 weeks.

  • Sorry i read the letter wrong, was in a blind panic!
my sick pay from work expires on the 25th but SSp starts then.
    I can't survive on £72.55 a week though.
Should i go to the HB office and let them know? anyone else i need to inform?
    Thanks for help and replies
