Handing Notice to Employer on Completion Day

Options
Hi guys,

I'm currently due to complete on a new build, I've also got a new job lined up which will start two weeks after the completion date of the house.

I only have to give one week notice at my current job, would I be okay to hand my notice in as soon as the keys for the house are in my possession and I legally own the house?

The job I'm moving to is secure so there's no worries there.

As long as you have completed, there is no problem.

Great, thanks for clearing that up.

Some people have said the same, you just get doubts when others say "that's risky"

    It's crazy but true.

Lender's climb all over you until you have their funds. Then, if you go and live on a kibbutz they have no easy way of knowing and won't care provided the DDM is paid every month.

As an aside - why are you going to give 2 weeks notice when you are only required to give 1? IMHO it's best not to give more than the required notice to avoid potential problems at work and to minimise the risk to you of something going wrong with the new job offer.

If you were to run into problems within the near future and it transpired that you had not informed your lender of the full facts (did you read the declaration you made on the mortgage application form ? ). Then you may find the lender unsympathetic shall we say.
