Stand-out value groceries

Hi folks,
I have just been reading an old thread about an OP with very little money for food and people made some great food suggestions. (Made me want to write them down but probably out of date now).
There were some stand out great items and I thought it would be good to have these in one place for people who use this board who have very little money for food or trying to cut back on their grocery spend. I'm thinking of things that are super cheap but taste good/ok.
E.g. someone mentioned Sainsburys basic curry sauce in the old thread as tasting nice (and it is only 30p)
Any ideas?

One very good idea would be to get this into the right forum - Namely Food, Shopping and Groceries!0

Possibly - but some quite desperate people come here. So IMHO it is helpful.
If people think it is not helpful here then that's fine.0 -
porridge oats and red lentils are a really good, cheap basic.
Red lentil dahl is cheap, easy, and with rice is dinner.0 -
Tesco Value Spaghetti - 20p for 500g.
Tesco Value Penne Pasta - 29p for 500g
Tesco Value tomatoe puree 40p
All good buys I have regularly0 -
Tesco value sweetened soya milk is great, (I think 59p), and I think it tastes a thousand times better than any of the sickly sweet expensive brandy brands (I'm not looking at you AlproManky) or even tesco own non-value

Also, tesco value teabags. 29p ish
Tesco value nachos. 45p? Better than tesco own and a million times nicer than a brand... Lightly salted and really tasty!
In our house, when things break, we just pretend they still work0 -
From tesco:
value cornflakes - about 35p for a big box
value bread - thin but not bad at all for about 45p a loaf
value tinned toms - about 30p a tin, makes a cheap pasta sauce
value instant noodles - 20p. Not that healthy but a quick, easy meal if you've got nothing else!Starting 2016 debt-free
Emergency Fund: £350/£10000 -
All this information is on the Old Style and Food Shopping boards. Anyone who needs to reduce their food shopping spends can go there.

Morrisons do some great fresh fish. I picked up 4 fresh sardines (big enough for a smallish meal for 2, although 6 would have been better) for £1.04 the other day, they had dab at 50p each and I bought 3 herring fillets for about £1.50 yesterday. Those are unsexy (sardines and herring are delicious, dab is pretty tasteless but not horrible) but sustainable and cheap.0
