LA Fitness to sports direct

i renewed a year long membership last november with LA Fitness, my club has just changed to sports direct fitness. To be honest the place has really gone downhill in just a few months.
Firstly i have noticed hey now offer a no contract £25 a month deal, but also my direct debit has gone up to £47?
Am i correct in thinking i can cancel my contract as it was with LA Fitness, not sports direct?
Also isn't it illegal to increase a direct debit without notifying me?
