Have Pay4Later acted illegally?
Hi guys, first time poster here. Looking for a bit of advice.
I purchased several pieces of gym equipment from powerhouse fitness, I paid a deposit and took finance using there pay 4 later service. After a long drawn out process of one of the items not being delivered and spending almost 2 weeks waiting in on the item arriving I asked them to cancel this item from my order.
They ended up cancelling the whole order and my deposit was refunded. When they realised what they had done they asked me to pay the deposit again. I was working offshore overseas at the time and said I would look into it when I got home. I have just seen some emails and it looks like they have tried to another credit application as I have just received an email saying my credit application has been declined. I have not given my consent to do any credit application since the first one was done which they cancelled.
Im not sure where I stand as I told them that due to me working offshore and overseas (Africa, where I refuse to put any payment details online as it is full of scammers) that they would need to wait till I get in touch with them. The amount of mucking about I got with them means that I was not going to run around to accommodate them due to their own incompetence but I was planning on getting something sorted before I left for my next job. However after receiving this last email it looks like they have gone ahead and submitted a new credit application without my consent.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does a second credit application search appear on your credit file with one of the credit reference agencies?
If yes and if you didn't give consent for a second credit application search to be performed then you should be able to get it removed. You may want to write to both the credit provider and the credit reference agency to say that the search was not authorised by you.
If they refused to remove the second search then you could make a complaint to the ICO.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I've found NODDLE has about 25% of the information Experian statutory search had - so defo best not to rely on Noddy :-)Stuck on the carousel in Disneyland's Fantasyland
