Hi
I was wondering how much it is to just get the bus into york as we will be camping very near the monks cross park and ride.
Thanks in advance

The single fare from Sheriff Hutton was £3.60 a fortnight ago, so on the grounds that Monks Cross is about a third of the distance, about £1.00 perhaps.0

Is there anywhere in the UK where bus fares are so closely distance based? My experience tends to suggest not.
Although not relevant to the Monks Cross P&R, from the link provided:Passengers boarding at Moor Lane Car Park (the old Askham Bar site) before 6th September 2014 will continue to be offered Park & Ride fares. From then on, First's standard network fares will apply. Please note that the old site is now a pay and display car park.
In other words, passengers asking for a 'Standard Return' from the old park & ride site - slightly closer to the city centre than the old site - will be told that there are no return fares, and they have to buy the full network fare at £3.70, yet passengers who had boarded at the previous stop - and therefore travelling a greater distance - will only have been charged £2.60
This is in line with City of York Council policy, which in turn is in line with Government policy, to be as pro-car as possible, and ensure that those of us who do not drive cars pay through the nose for travel.
P&R fares are lower than other fares in York because, quite simply, this country is obsessed with pandering to the demands of car owners
So in this case the OP is lucky that the camp-site happens to be near a P&R. If it wasn't, a higher fare would be charged. In effect, the OP is assumed to be a car driver and is therefore heavily subsidised with reduced rate fares.
The people who live near the old Askham Bar site are not so fortunate, though with a 10-minute walk, or a ridiculously short car drive, they too could benefit from the lower fares. Crazy, innit?0 -
Thank you everyone0
