Best (cheapish) hand mixer?

Options
I am looking to buy a hand mixer.

I have a stand mixer but sometimes I think I have better control with a hand mixer when doing smallish amounts of cake mix.

I want one that has beaters and/or whisks. I don't need the dough hooks.

I'm looking to spend about £20.00. Maybe a bit more if it's a gooden.

Anyone recommend a good one?

I saw the Kitchenaid hand mixer....£99.00!
Was nice though!

Thanks in advance. :)

I paid £13.99 for my James Martin one - but it was a few years ago. Great mixer and is giving good service.

Also have a 'whizzie-stick' (hand blender) that cost £4.99 around 10yrs ago - and doesn't owe me a single penny cos I love it!

Have got a food processor which very rarely comes out of its box :(. One of those things that I 'had to have' at the time ...............
  • I bought mine a year ago. It's a Sainsbury's own brand and it seems to be on sale for £6.49 at the moment (but it's also out of stock online, maybe they have some in store?).

It's powerful enough for me with 300W and I use it fairly frequently for baking and whipping cream. Can't fault it!

I have the Cookworks one from Argos, although mine didn't come with dough hooks. Mine is the older model, but I still paid £9.99 for it. I find it useful for buttercream, cream and small cake mixes when I can't be bothered to get my Kenwood Chef out, although the motor does smell when it is under too much strain.

Argos hand mixers start off from about £6.

I had one from Morrisons that was under £10 I think. It has beaters and dough hooks (never used) and works plenty well enough for me. I'd love a stand mixer but just haven't got the space for one at present.

I have a cheap kenwood one. I've had it a good few years and it is used at least weekly. Does the job.

  • Thanks all for your quick replies!

Had a look at Tesco and saw that they have their Clubcard boost going on.

Got myself a nice little Kenwood with just two beaters (and no dough hooks!) with Clubcard vouchers.

Reviews look good. Cost me just £2.50.

    Really pleased :j

    Nice deal!
I was just going to say that mine was about £4 from asda about 6yrs ago and it does the job rightly.
