Halifax mortgage app - Experian account searches

Options
Hi everyone,

Our Experian accounts are showing the following from Lloyds Banking Group (Halifax)

Thursday 7 August - 'Mortgage Quotation'
Friday 8 August - 'First Mortgage'

Is the first search the DIP and second search by the Underwriters? Confused!

We are still waiting to hear from Halifax as to whether they will allow us to have a mortgage at 90% LTV... Should hear back by tomorrow.

Thanks :)

  • You will usually have two from Halifax, one showing as Halifax and the other Lloyds Banking Group, one for DIP and one for the full application, however it would not normally only be 24hrs apart?

When did you get the original DIP and when was the full app submitted?

    Thanks.

The full application was submitted on Thurs 7 August in-branch.

The original DIP was carried out on 17 July by the broker we have parted company with. Our Experian account shows this as 'Lloyds Banking Group - Mortgage Quotation'.

So there are actually three searches by Lloyds Banking Group...

  • Hmm, odd. It's not necessarily unusual to have three, but the timescale sounds a bit odd there, I can only imagine that on full application they ran a new DIP, and then there was possibly some sort of generic ID check that will show on your credit report, on application too?

Give them a call and ask.

Yes, I think you are probably right. We never received a copy of the DIP from 17/7 - the broker never sent it to us!

I know that our application went straight to the underwriter on 8/8, as our MA kindly put it through as a complaint to speed it up. Think he felt sorry for us after being so messed around by the dodgy broker!

    Thanks for your help.

ha when i applied with lloyds over the phone they performed 16 credit checks on me, then withdrew the offer they gave me due to having to many credit checks on me! I appealed and showed them their "mortgage promises" online (which they had never heard of. Anyways successfully got appealed, but house purchase fell through

this time went to halifax in branch and they have been epic!

PS: got all the searches removed and compensated for their epic mess up

That's dreadful! 16 searches - how ridiculous. Glad to hear they compensated you. We too have found Halifax in branch fantastic so far.

Mortgage quotation will be a soft search. Most likely to ensure that there's nothing on your file to cause an outright instant decline.

    That's the DIP then.

I suspect 'First Mortgage' is an ID check.

    Hi Guys,
I'm about to make my 3rd mortgage app with nationwide due to other purchases falling through therefore this is my 3rd check in 2 months. I have to restart the process... Do you think this will cause a problem? Rest of my score is good.
    Thanks!
