Question about getting money while being a Student

Hello there.

I'mlooking to become a student at college and want to earn myself a Level 2 qualifcation in Creative Media but Im also on Income Based JSA course is Full Time which causes an issue for me greatly here.

There's many jobs available here involving Creative Media and its something that really interests me and i need all help i can get.

I obviously need a steady weekly income of some kind to live on, i've heard about student finance england, but i recall seeing somewhere saying i'd need proof of ID in form of something from either a GP (Doctor) or Teacher etc etc that have known me for either 1 or 2 years I believe? I dont have a specific GP i only see random ones for occasional check ups because ive never been allocated anyone specific like that so i already fail qualifying for anything from them as far as I can tell.

I'm Currently 22 (Turn 23 in 2015), I there anything like that weekly EMA thing that used to be going about that was stopped a few years ago, an if so is it a reasonable amount to live on atleast just for basic needs?

If not is there anything that can help me gain a steady income while on a full time course? My college delivering the course doesn't have anything like a hardship fee or bursary like some have.

I'd appreciate anything someone can do to help because being out of work is really a drag and JCP aren't exactly big helpers an i'm only one willing to push myself.

Also last thing to note if there's anything like a Grant/Bursary/Loan i can get access to in my circumstances that is all payed in 1 lump sum then i can accept that also as I pretty much learnt well how to manage a tight budget :)

Student Finance England do not fund level 2 courses, so there's no point going down that route anyways.

JSA won't pay you if they discover you are in full time education, as you won't be available to search and accept work.

You will need a job, I'm afraid

As above. You won't be able to get any loans for living costs. There might be a bursary from your local college.

    Just get a job,
  • My bother held down 3 different jobs whilst studying for a MRes, i funded my entire MSc on the basis of producing a website, and then I worked during the summers/Christmas breaks.

Creative media? Have you much experience of digital media? You could try making youtube videos for local firms, logo design.. that kind of stuff
