Zante in mid October - a good idea?

Hi everyone, I am thinking about booking a holiday - 4 star hotel, flights and transfers in Alykanas, Zante for £412 (2 adults 1 small child) for 1 week in mid October. Seems to be a super good deal.
My only concern is the weather. I looked it up and it says an average of 7 days of rain for the month. Temperature remains around 20 degrees.
Has anyone been near here in October? Is it worth risking bad weather?
Thanks in advance for helping

It does rain in Zante in October and it can be frequent. Unfortunately if you get a week which is rainy then that's the luck of the draw. No-one can predict the weather 3 months in advance either (they would be billionaires if they could).
It will also be quite quiet then as it is the end of the season.
Personally, I wouldn't risk it. You can get slightly more expensive holidays with better chances of sun.0 -
Depends on the precise date in October for me and how much of a sun worshipper you are. If you want guaranteed sun then pick somewhere else, if its a cheap break your after then that's a bargain.
DomRavioli please tell me where you can get that guarantees the weather for slightly more because I would have said you need to double it or triple it and even then the weather can be dodgy in the canaries or Cyprus.0 -
A long while back I went to Rhodes out of season ( a bit later than October) wish I hadnt as it was cold and "closed"0

Alykanas is pretty quiet anyway and as it's off season you'll probably find that nearly everything is closed.0

I've heard that the middle east is quite dry and fairly warm in October, and flights can be picked up for very little if you don't mind a split flight (slight sarcastic tone). Dodging bombs and crazy oil barons might be a down side however. Oh and the Jihad thing.
I never said you could get guarantees for weather; I said you could have a better chance of the sun for slightly more money - next time READ the post, and you won't look a fool.
OP, I do hope you get sorted out with something.0 -

Not sure why you think my post makes me look a fool, no need to be rude. If you read my post, i'm asking you where you have found that is slightly more money, the op or i may want to book what you are suggesting that is "slightly" more money. Or are you just generalising and you haven't got a suggestion at all!!0 -
Thanks everyone we decided to go for it as the price dropped at a bit more. If it's sunny great if not then we will probably hire a car and go exploring. With a 2 year old we are not hugely fussed about it being quiet/everything closing we just want a beach, pool and a clean friendly base. We wouldn't go in peak season as too hot and busy.
So fingers crossed it will work out ..
Thanks again for your input always useful to listen to others views.0 -
We have been to Zante in October and had a lovely week. It did rain but mostly in the late evenings so it wasn't a problem.
You might need a light jacket for the evenings though.
Hope you have a great time.Mags - who loves shopping0 -
Hi. My wife and I went to Turkey mid October last year and the weather was fantastic. We went to the resort of Olu Deniz with Jet2Holidays, this was our second trip to Olu-Deniz during 2013, first being in June. With Jet2 the price of the Holiday half board was £510 for the two of us but an offer at the time of booking gave us another £25per person off making the vacation with transfers £460 .
I am looking to return to Olu Deniz this October but as yet the prices are high, if you chance the booking 3 weeks before you go you will pick up a bargain.
Regards Jeff0
