Fridge Freezer Repair?

Is there any point in paying someone to see if a 3 yr old frost free Beko Fridge Freezer can be repaired? Or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new one?
It's not a power failure as the light still comes on but the motor has stopped working and adjusting the temperature control makes no difference.

have you tried letting it completely defrost with the door open , sometimes these frost free units have a problem where the drain hole fills up solid with ice , once its gone they magically start working againEx forum ambassador

I will try that - nothing visible in the drain hole but worth a go. :beer:0

My fridge freezer failed recently with the same symptoms you describe (light on but no cooling). Turned out to be the thermostat (bit where you turn the knob to adjust temperature) - my local appliance repair man fixed it in 10 minutes for £20.0

Weren't their some safety concerns about Beko fridge freezers? Check and see if your model was one of those recalled: http://www.which.co.uk/home-and-garden/home-appliances/guides/fridge-freezer-recalls-and-electrical-safety/beko-fridge-freezer-recall/0

Thanks guys.
Mars7, it was one of those models but I can't check the serial number as it has gone to the great fridge freezer place in the sky - I decided to replace it as I couldn't cope with any more delays.
gmm30 - maybe I should have taken the chance but I was going to struggle to get time off to be at home for a repair guy so took the easiest option and bought a new one.0
