British exports drop as we fail to do enough business abroad :

its in lots of other papers globally as well0 -
UK GDP is £1,600,000,000,000. The reduction to GDP of net exports by £400,000,000 is .025%! I bet the Tories are terrified.
Desperate stuff OP, desperate.0 -
I think there is also a circular logic problem with the op.
Strong growth and rising prices will trigger interest rate rises hence the strong pound and weaker exports = aka weaker growth and lower inflation thus requiring less of an Interest rate response and thus the pound not strengthening as much and so on. Ie it is a self limiting problem.
As an aside whilst we all make politically biased comments on here normally we couch them in terms of the impact on the economy, leaving direct political argument for the Arms.I think....0 -

The concern for the Government is lack of rebalancing of the economy in the soon to be past 5 years. One suspects it's a chink in the armour that Labour will attempt to exploit. Along with lack of increase in real pay. As steers them clear of historical legacy issues and their dire lack of a broader economic policy.0
