Buying Home With Solar PV/Thermal Panels

Hi,
Has anyone sold or rented out a property with solar panels or solar thermal panels? Would you pay more for an energy efficient home?

The more that's been done to improve a house to more buyers would expect and people would be willing to spend. Not just solar panels it comes down to CH; DG; a new bathroom , and a modern kitchen.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I'd value a house more that had energy saving (or generating) features that would make it cheaper and more comfortable to live in. That's why I've focused on upgrading our house with insulation etc. However, many buyers and agents only focus on the cosmetic, because that's how it's always been done. I guess things will gradually change as energy prices rise.Solar install June 2022, Bath

It would depend if their belonged to the house & had been bought outright and I got any feed in payments. In this case yes I'd like them as long as a loft conversion (or similar that would involve moving them) wasn't on the cards

If like it seems the majority are, they were part of a rent a roof type scheme then I wouldn't touch the property with a bargepole0 -

As above but even if they were owned outright i'd need to see how old they were, what current and future returns were expected, what previous and potential maintenance costs were and how much it would cost to remove them.0 -
I think solar panels are fairly price neutral when it comes to valuing a property.
Many people dislike the appearance, so those who are attracted because of lower bills are likely cancelled out.
Things will change over time, but British people are a conservative lot and distrust being on the bleeding edge of innovation, though solar panels are hardly 'new' now!
The above applies to owned panels. Rented roofs are a complete turn-off for most people.0 -

Paid for is fine. Green Deal certainly is not! Green deal ties future owners to stupidly high interest loan paid for through energy bills. It negates a lot of the benefit of PV/thermal.0 -
If owned out right, on the rear of the property and if I had no desire for a loft conversion then I would regard them as neutral. I wouldn't pay extra for them but I would still be interested in the house.
Despite the government guarantee I wouldn't expect the FIT payments to really be guaranteed there are so many factors that could change.
However rent a roof schemes are just headaches waiting to happen. I would avoid any house that has got into this.0 -
I'd love solar panels, however would not want anything to do with the rent-a-roof schemes or the deals where the buyer inherits the bill and pays it through the utility bills.
I wouldn't mind if they were visible on the front of the building either ! I just want the benefits after someone else has paid, heh heh

I would depend on the house and the panels. Like others, I would not touch a property with 'rent a roof' panels (any many mortgage lenders wont, either).
I'd be unlikely to pay extra for panels - and I would be looking very carefully into whether and how much they would effect buildings insurance costs.
