Saturday/Sunday 9th-10th Aug - What small DFW things will you be doing this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

Just us today is it CLF?

Done so far:
Checked banks - all ok
Phoned npower as I am in the middle of changing energy suppliers and I had a letter from them requesting that I ring them to 'finalise the gas account'. What they actually wanted to do was try to persuade me to stay with them
Taken items to sales unit to restock after quite a good selling week. Managed to find room for 2 boxes of small bits plus a large item
Looked after baby GD while her mum got some sleep, as not much sleeping went on last night I gather and Daddy is away.
And nothing else - terrible timewasters aren't they, babies :rotfl:
I am pretty worn out though as I had to do a route march with the pushchair to get her to sleep. Still, free exercise is good!
Still to do:
Tidy kitchen and clean up sink area as everything seems to be covered in baby food
Do something with pile of ripe tomatoes - probably get the dehydrator out.
Cook something for supper for OH and I - frittata probably as I have loads of eggs
Check paperwork for change of energy suppliers.
Anyone else about??0 -
Been out all day. Nothing particularly money saving but kept the faith by:
*Sharing bathtub to save on heating water.
*Stuck to the 3 items needed at the supermarket.
*Did not succumb to a naughty cake at coffee shop.
*Lovely free lunch at Mum & Dad's, where we also acquired 2 plants, 4lbs plums, 2lbs apricots & a bag of magazines.
*Back home now - plums prepped for late night jamming session.
*Watered greenhouse veggies. Am relying on tomorrow's rainy forecast to water the rest of the veggie garden & borders.
*Finished the ribbing on the hat I'm knitting for the present box. Can start knitting the pretty bit now. All yarn from my stash. In fact, went in wool shop this morning & was angelic. Stroked a few luscious skeins but kept my pennies in my purse :-)
*Felt like getting a takeaway tonight but mr f decided he'd quite like to cook.
Quiet thread today, so hope everyone is getting' on down & having a good Saturday.
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

Debt at LBM (2011) £7750. DFD 01/01/20130 -
For me today:
So far:
Read newspaper online
2 eggs from chickens
One bowl of HG tomatoes in dehydrator
Sorted out question re meter numbers for new energy company
Cooked down some apples I got the other day. They will do for breakfast with yogurt
Planted out a Michaelmas daisy plant I bought the other day
Still to do:
Hoover downstairs as the dog is moulting and it is very hairy
Dust furniture
Get chickens out and check them over. They had been pecked badly when I got them, though the wounds had been treated. I have treated them once since, but need to check today to see if they need spraying again.
No need to cook today as I have lots of leftovers to use up - butternut squash and coconut soup, some quiche, half a frittata, salad bits. OH is out for lunch so just lunch for me and supper for both of us needed.0 -

:bdaycake: Happy birthday Tiggy!
Phew, what a weekend! Summary of weekend as follows!
Friday night - OH not well so did not go out with me. Stuck to £30 budget, came home with £1 :rotfl:
Saturday - not very mse. Went out for lunch (but used allocated fun spends). OH desperate for Chinese takeaway for tea so agreed, but we ordered 1 extra meal. This way, instead of shovelling in 1 meal each (and being too full), we have a bit of each meal and it will do us again in the week.
Did make and freeze some pizza dough and a loaf of bread, cleaned bathrooms, watered garden, crocheted 1 daffodil square (really fiddly pattern, have been putting it off - here is the pattern if anyone is interested link ) and 1 plain square for new throw, discussed C****m*s presents with OH.
Today- had a lay in
- went to the supermarket to buy some stuff for batch cooking. Slight break in the weather so we walked around the marine lake too

- Butterflied a piece of YS lamb, made a paste of rosemary, thyme and mint from the garden (plus some garlic from the cupboard!), spread it on the lamb and rolled up into a little roast. Froze for another day
- Made 8 quarter pounders
- Bought some beans etc to make falafels/ bean burgers
- Was going to make burger buns in breadmaker but need Mr Foxgloves to come and sort out the freezer here using freezer tetris :rotfl:
- OH hoovered while I dusted - went on a spider eradication mission. Many now in the depths of the hoover.
- Tonight's tea will be southern style: bbq beef (using up some frying steak in cupboard), potato salad, corn on the cob and squash. Am hungry already!
