They get spammed otherwise and sometimes still do.0 -
So how do they decide who they accept or not? They couldn't possibly know whos a spammer untill they accept a person anyway? But they don't accept anyone. Not everyone is a spammer. I find it all very weird.0

I have no idea I have no input in that area, I would guess they look at your Facebook profile.0
-
For me personally they could only see my profile picture of me and my son on a family holiday and couldn't see anything else unless they were on my friends list anyway, so lets say that is the way they do it, how could they judge I was a spammer from a picture like that. It's still all very weird to me.0

Just the fact you have to request to join probably cuts the number of spammers without them needing to do anything else.
A group (don't know about this one) might post up doubtful join requests to see if anyone in the group can vouch for a "joinee". Also in the case of compers they would tend to have visible comp posts on their timelines.0 -
You do realise your comp entries will be hidden too... perhaps this is why you haven't been added. A compers account would not be private, the comp entries would need to be visible otherwise what's the point.
TBH I think that could be the explanation.0 -
I get your point, but this is my personal and only facebook account which I enter competitions on (I don't tend to enter the share comps because I don't want them plastered all over my wall), not a pure compers account. I don't want any random people seeing everything on my page. Not everyone is going to have pure comping accounts they use just for comping and will be in the same position as me, entering competition on their personal account and only wanting people who are on their friends list seeing their account. If what you are saying is the case I simply will never be part of these groups and now accept that.
Thanks for all the info people have supplied.0 -
lol, and as we speak and after i've just sent a message to the admin of "Competition Checkers" I've just been accept to the group
