Morrisons - Refunds

Hi,
A few days ago I bought a microwave from Morrisons for my little brother who has recently moved into his own place and has nothing. Only when I bought it home, was I told that he had picked up a cheap one on Gumtree and therefore didn't require the one that I had bought him.
Where do I stand regarding refunds? I obviously now have no need for the microwave and would ideally like my money back. I still have the receipt. The microwave is still in its box and is unopened. It's not been touched. There's nothing on the back of the receipt detailing refunds etc.
Thanks

It is down to their discretion. You have no consumer right to a refund.
If the packaging is perfect they may give you your money back. But they are also free to only give you a credit note.0
