Any chance of a mortgage if so where to look?

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone can suggest anything.

I have a good job earn about £30k year, at the moment £25k banked to use as a deposit, prospect of least another £25k coming in within 6 months (inheritance), I have seen a nice property costing £130k, I have 1 loan which can pay off, I just wondered the likelihood of me finding a mortgage.

The problem, several years ago my wife left me with a unaffordable mortgage, tried to sell, could not, negotiated a hand back to the mortgage company, there was a shortfall, which the company accepted a reduced one off payment to settle, apart from this everyone paid and my credit rating is classed as "Good" on Experian, but with a default.

Do I have a chance of getting a mortgage if so where can I look?

I would say this can definitely be done with a 25% deposit, rates would not be great.
It might be possible to do it at more normal rates depending on how far back and the rest of the case - but I do think its one for a broker.

Its quite recent that. I do think its possible to place though, the difficulty comes with trying to get it at ok rates.
