You have a mortgage till he is 75 why not keep that?

This is what I have now just done.
Over 3 hours with this connells mortgage advisor was based on this no longer being possible, and having to drop to 12 years to take him to 70.

You, others on this thread, and 3 people at Nationwide all get the impression I'm p!ssed - but have been going on what this 'advisor' has been telling me!
I never wanted to change from the term (18 years now) that I'm on!

My mortgage is to 75. Last month I changed at end of fixed rate to 2.39% for three years on line - done in 5 mins and no affordability questions etc - its all kicked in now with new rate. The email they sent out was just standard stuff etc - so looks like yours has gone through

I would have done the exact same thing if I wasn't signed up to this advisor.
I will be going down tomorrow to cause a fuss and ask for a refund.
As you can see from this thread I'm not the only one baffled by the advice I've had.
    Glad yours went smoothly!

Once you have interacted with Nationwide, they have given you 'advice' and the execution only online option will be shut to you.

The regulation will not let the lender not give you advice once they have started to do so.

    Ah that's a !!!!!!.

The email says : "We're delighted to let you know we've issued a formal mortgage offer which will be posted out to you shortly.

A copy will also be sent to your solicitor."

    Will this not happen?

So you have already gone through the 'advice' process and obtained an offer?

I rang, they said 75 not 70, went to put me through and got cut off!
Rang again got someone else, they said 75 not 70, can put me through to renew, or do it online, or in branch - I chose to go face to face.
I guess technically twice on the phone I have been given 'advice' (on age) then been offered to renew there and then.

But being warned in this thread to be careful re advice I got online this morning and renewed.

You will get a copy - I did and also on line instantly. It's just standard words to fit every type occasion - don't worry about the solicitor bit as it's just renewing the deal.

2 years ago I did it online (in Connells with a decent advisor) and remember no mention or contact with the solicitor.
That's more hassle I don't need as she was useless and mad when we bought the house!
    Thanks for that :)

Just had the Product Conversion offer in post.
"If you have completed your application, you do not need to do anything further"
I take it I'm all done and dusted now??
