Neither do I for that matter. I'd go for 3 years minimum. Perhaps longer. Spain will be very interested in making sure it's all done 'properly'.

Although to be fair, as I understand it, Iceland has rather lost interest in the EU recently. Which might explain the delay. Something to do with what happens to small islands in the Eurozone with a large banking sector I think.

No, but I suspect that if it suited the EU establishment as part of "The Project", it would be done.

do you have an evidence of that ?

have any high profile representatives of major countries said that?

or indeed, that any given all 27 countries have to agree, do you have any evidence of any county publically supporting fast tracking Scotland?

I haven't mentioned Scotland. Doubt the EU are that interested in them.

    Nah, 3 years minimum.

18 months of actual talks, and another 18 months of Salmond shouting at everyone and telling them that the EU is only "bluffing" when it says that the Euro commitment is a condition of entry.:)

Well I thought that was the subject under discussion?

But you're right. Scotland only represents 1% of the EEA. Hypothetically, I've no doubt that the EU would prefer Scotland to be 'In' rather than 'Out', but I don't expect that they would be that bothered either way.

which country were you thinking of then that could be fast tracked in 18 months in a back room, without the agreement of the all 27 countries?

Non in particular, but it does seem they are interested in expanding eastwards.

    Perhaps ISTL can explain?

I am 100% sure that to join the EU which an independent Scotland 'will' do you have to commit to joining the Euro

I also seem to have heard that Scotland is committed to keeping the pound

    ?
    I think....

I wonder if there's anyone sitting and reading this thread in Turkey, thinking "wow, those Icelandic people, they're doing it at break-neck speed".

Interestingly, in the light of recent statements from Salmond, one of the reasons Iceland has suspended her application is due to her default on debt and the reaction to that from member states (NL has said that they will veto the application at the final step if the debt thing isn't resolved).
