Dmp and savings
Chapter2009
Hi i am currently considering a dmp, but have 2 major concerns. The first is that i hold savings in my name which dont belong to me but i dont want to explain my personal business to the person they belong to so cant tell them they need to move the money. Has anyone gone into a dmp holding a savings account with a few grand in it and was it ever discovered by your debtors? (It is in an account not connected to any of my debtors). The second thing is im terrified of constant t/cs and potential doorstep visits. Stepchange have tried (and failed) to put me at ease over this. If i wrote a letter now to each debtor stating no t/c or visits would they take heed? Im most worried about vanquis as reading around they seem to hassle u constantly.

It's very unlikely in general creditors will send debt collectors around. It cost them time and money. It's far cheaper and easier to send letters threatening to do that!
Telephone calls are more likely to be a problem. You can write to all companies and ask them not to contact you by telephone. If they persist you can report them to the OFT. If you have any online accounts now you could always go in and delete your contact details.
DO not bother engaging with telephone calls. You have no proof of what's been said and frankly most of the time it will just cause you extra stress and hassle. Just say you are with Stepchange, my dmp number is .... and hang up (or don't answer in the first place). Don't get into any discussion with them about how much you'll pay or when you'll pay etc.
Good Luck
