On the photographer's site, he has put:

    Q. What if I'm on a budget?
    A. Tell me the price you have in mind and I can quote a tailored price to suit your needs

If we could get about 20% off the asking price, we would be near a figure we had in mind.

Just not sure how best to suggest it to them?

Hi Mr/s photographer, I have a tight budget. The maximum I have to spend is £?, what can you provide for that price? S/he will either tell you to bolt or will say what they can offer.

    Thanks for this.

We are getting married on a Sunday in April, would this be classed as "off-peak"?

I've asked them for a full breakdown of the package that appeals to us, to see if we can come up with something more tailored to help reduce the costs

We thought £500 would get us someone nice but of the 30 or 40 local photographers I found through Google, only one of them offered something at this price. Having underestimated the cost, we would now be prepared to go up to about £700, which is 20% lower than the price we have found.

We have found other photographers slightly cheaper but we love the style of this photographer.

Here's hoping we can come to an agreement on a bespoke package!

April is for me at least is not peak period and the fact it's a Sunday also counts in your favour. The most popular days by a country mile are unsurprisingly Saturday then Friday's. Sunday's are the third most popular.

I think much depends on how busy your photographer is. For me April currently is quiet. In fact curiously I've more in December and Feb. Go figure??

Anyway, like I say you can ask. Worst case is that he/she says no.

I do know Facebook groups where they'd be fighting over shooting your wedding for between £500-£700. PM me if you want the details. You'd have to do your own research very carefully since Facebook groups are usually where the newer photographers try to find business. Established ones are there but we usually get nothing because our prices in comparison just look ridiculous.

Do not skimp on the photographer. IMO it is one thing definately worth getting the best you can possibly afford - and going without other things for
The opposite of what you know...is also true

After the wedding day the pictures are all you have left to show for the money you have spent. It's not an area to haggle a professional however with most photographers you can request a bespoke package with bits you don't want taking out..

My photographer is lovely, her work is amazing and she was by far the cheapest. She listened to our needs, the date of the wedding, the venue, the size of wedding (this is important as if you have loads of guests presumably they will have to spend longer photographing then all!) we just wanted digital (with full copyright) and she quoted us £395. I couldn't believe it!

Only 2 months to go now and getting very excited! Good luck and hope you get what you're after :)
