I agree but I actually did call 999 just two weeks ago, Wife`s car got squashed by a Lorry at a junction - Car was written off and I called 999 because she is pregnant, after waiting roadside for 25 minutes with her in distress I drove her to A&E myself so we could get a scan to see if the baby was OK, the early pregnancy department was closed so we were unable to get a scan to confirm if the car accident had damaged the foetus, we were then told that another hospital 10 miles away would scan us so we drove to that hospital afterwards and we were then turned away by that scanning dept at that hospital also because we did not have an appointment (after we explained she had just that afternoon been in a car crash) - we had to return the day following which was a total of three trips to get the scan confirming that the baby was OK. The NHS is massively overstretched in the London area, NHS and emergency services are not functioning - the idea of the NHS is unique to the UK and it was an idea initiated when the UK population was far smaller, given the recent population increases we would be served better by private health services/insurance as is the preferred option in every other country.0 -

You have no idea what the future holds for you. I intend to live till I'm 100 but it's not really in my hands.
There's no doubt where the blame lies with allowing these tax legal loopholes bu morality (or lack of) is only down to you. Having run my own business for over 25 yrs I could have gone down the same route but I have a moral compass...
As previously mentioned you do want your cake and eat it.
with respect the situation now is very different from how it was decades ago, as an example we currently have a higher % than ever before of adults still living at home with their parents well into their 30`s due to the widening gap in wages in relation to the cost of living and purchasing a property - things were different in your day so you can afford to have more of a moral compass.0 -

With respect, you say that as someone with a high income.
What about people who don't have as much disposable income as you?
And as much as they're overstretched - it's free, and they are phenomenal people saving lives on a daily basis. If your wife had required emergency surgery, they'd have done it without checking your tax status. I would rather have the nhs and fire service and police than an insurance backed scheme. How many people do you know who don't get insurances because 'it will never happen to me' or who cancel it because they can't afford it (although sky TV is affordable)
I remember reading a case in I believe it was Australia or America where a family hadn't purchased fire insurance and their house caught fire. The next door neighbours house also caught fire but as they have insurance the fire dept came out and put out their fire and watched the other house burn to the ground with the family pets inside. How many people die in America because they can't afford medical treatment
I happily pay into the tax pot for these services, schools, pensions and even for those who cannot support themselves and will continue to do so
While you do not pay your fair share of tax op please tell me you are not claiming benefits based on your low income as that really would be taking the pee.I am a Mortgage Adviser

Found it in google
Gene cranick in tenessee lost his home and 3 dogs and 1 cat as he hadn't paid the $75 fire fee so the fire service refused to come out. He offered to pay then and they refused.I am a Mortgage Adviser

If your story is true (I personally don't believe a word of this thread and think you got a bit carried away with the car being squashed part) then you've cost the public purse a lot more than many benefit claimants through your tax avoidance scheme.0
