Big bag of lavender!

Options
I bought a big bag of lavender last year to make "Smelly Bums" but my xMIL said that was a bit tasteless so I'm stuck with a big bag of lavender and 12 small jars. I'd like some help/pointers for Christmas gifts please. The lavender and jars don't have to go together.

You could make lavender jelly, I was reading a recipe for it the other day... http://howlingduckranch.wordpress.com/recipes/test-recipe-page/ apparently goes really well with a roast!

I love lavender and have just bought 2 plants to go in my garden.

PS, IMO I don't think lavender is tasteless at all, I adore the smell of it and it keeps mosquitoes away!

  • Thanks kb_soma I didn't think you'd be able to use dried lavender in that way! Very interesting I might wait untill nearer Christmas to give that a try

Oh, they're actually quite good for a novelty gift!
  • How about getting some little drawstring bags from ebay and filling them with Lavender to make drawer/cupboard fresheners?

Or if the lavender has stems you could pin them into a brooch?

The jars could be used for cookie in a jar recipes?

Or if you have any children to buy for you could fill them with sweets like pick and mix? (They'll love you forever!)
  • Thank you ALittleInLove. Ahh something so simple as drawstring bags I must have been overthinking it or having a brain-fart :/ jars are too small for cookie recipes and I don't know enough kids for sweeties! I'll have a think on that one maybe a little pot of homemade jam or chutney!
