Asda for specs?

I need new varifocals and Have always had high spec lens but on a very tight budget and can't afford them now.
Has anyone had specs from Asda?
I considered Specsavers but have heard horror stories about them.
I feel trapped as I do not know if I will be able to manage with cheaper lens
Help!!

    hi MT dancer,

I have had my last 4 or 5 pairs of glasses from Asda and have never had a problem. Glasses are always great quality and I never have to wait too long.

I have a high index prescription and specsavers wanted upwards of £90 JUST for the thinning of the lenses... crazy! Asda included super thinning of the lenses and they also have a coating to make the lenses stronger I believe (sorry not too sure of the details)

In my local asda it is one pair of glasses for £79 or 2 pairs for £99 (this includes prescription sunglasses!). It does seem like the deal is too good to be true but I would certainly recommend them. As yours are variofocals yours cost a little more but I would certainly recommend them.

I've had specs from Asda for the last four years, my first pairs were single vision and super-thinned, my latest pairs are varifocal and super-thinned. I always get one pair clear and one pair tinted (sunglasses) for driving. Never had a problem with them, and they seem quite happy to carry out minor repairs (like replacing nose-pieces).

Tesco are good as well. They do evening and Saturday appointments. Sometimes offer free eye tests. Frames start at £15 inc basic lenses. I have tinted pair for driving as well, which I think you pay slightly more for. But not expensive at all.
