Set against the stunning and desolate Australian outback, haunting psychological thriller Gone is the story of two young backpackers who take the trip of a lifetime only to end up on a road trip to hell.
When British couple Sophie (Amelia Warner) and Alex (Shaun Evans) arrive in Australia for a backpacking adventure, they soon meet charismatic and mysterious American drifter Taylor (Scott Mechlowicz). These new found friends decide to abandon the usual tourist trail of white sandy beaches and head off inland to see the real Australia and the barren but beautiful outback.
But as the sun beats down and the roads turn from tarmac to red dirt, Alex suspects Taylor’s motives for imposing his friendship upon them and begins to doubt whether traveling with him was such a good idea – especially when he realizes Taylor’s growing infatuation with his girlfriend, Sophie.
Taylor holds some potentially incriminating evidence to blackmail Alex and he uses this to force his way and his will on the unsuspecting couple. Taylor’s dark side is slowly revealed, as he starts to play mind games with Sophie and Alex turning them against each other.
Relationships deteriorate further when festering tensions between the two boys spill over into a bloody roadside fight. But who does Sophie trust? As their journey and relationships take unexpected and violent twists and turns Sophie is left embroiled in a torturous battle of conscience over who she should trust.
When Alex unexpectedly disappears, enigmatic Taylor exploits Sophie’s feeling of helplessness and manipulates her to continuing their nightmare trip together, but soon Sophie realizes she may be on a one way road she may never come back from.
Universal Pictures UK announces the release of Gone, a dark and sinister portrayal of fatal attraction from first time director Ringan Ledwidge, out to own and rent on DVD and Download-to-Own from16th July. In the outback nobody can hear you scream
