Some really good ideas here! My tips are:
* Soup - I found lunch harder to sort out than dinner when my baby was tiny. Being able to grab a tub of something was a godsend.
* If you're going to be reheating in a microwave (or are you more organised than me?;)), plastic freezer containers are a better bet than foil dishes.
* If your freezer space is limited, put things into freezer bags, seal and then smooth out as flat as you can. You can stack loads into a drawer that way (this is how I coped with a massive family Christmas one year). It works best with zip-close bags and it's especially useful if you find you're not quite filling a container.
* Quiches and pies also freeze brilliantly, if your cooking from scratch is coming on well!
*Re green veg, I keep frozen leaf spinach in the freezer, too - brilliant for curries, soups, etc, and much cheaper than fresh.
Hope that helps - and well done for getting started so soon! I'm due in December and haven't even started thinking about stocking up...0 -

Its a fabulous thing!! Chuck all the ingredients in, switch on, tea ready in 8 hours or so (depending whether you are cooking in low or high).
Makes brilliant casseroles, stews, bolognaise, chilli, soups and loads more things, which you can then freeze. No stirring, no checking it every 5 minutes, just put everything in and away you go.
Don't get a casserole dish, get one of these!! You can get one for £15-20.
