Covering up school badge on sports top

Hi,
I wonder if anyone has any ideas to cover up a school badge on a sports top. My son has just completed school and would like to wear his school sports top, however it has a school badge on it. It looks like it would be impossible to remove as it is both sides of the fabric, the only thing I can think of is to sew another badge on the top, but I'm having problems finding anything suitable (looking for a plain hockey badge/patch). Any ideas gratefully received.

Hi, is the sports top made of cotton or a manmade fabric? I am assuming that it is an embroidered badge and you might damage the fabric trying to remove it. You could possibly try removing some of the threads ( with a "quick-unpick") to see if will leave a lot of holes and how big they will be. Sometimes if a patch or badge has been removed and the garment is washed you can "lose" a lot of the holes when the fibres settle down. Alternative to another badge would be to get a piece of Bondaweb and applique a patch of a contrasting colour of fabric. Or how about a simple patch pocket?

I just googled 'sew on badges' and Amazon has a huge choice from 99p , Union Jack, Batman, Peace symbol...there's lots more depends what your son finds acceptable .

Alternatively make a pocket out of something like an old pair of jeans. Unpicking a back pocket would give you a shape to work from although may be a little large for a breast pocket depending in the size of your son and his shirt.

Thanks for your replies. Fabric man made, think it will leave a hole seems to go through the fabric. He's 18 so finding a patch maybe a problem, think he may accept a hockey logo but can't see on.

Why don't you sell this top on a local selling site and use the cash to buy a new top. X
