Hi
Just wondering if anyone had any experience with Debenhams wedding insurance? Or any other recommendations?
I hate taking out insurance as I know all insurers are experts at getting out of paying out any which way they can, but I'm too scared not to take it out for our wedding - especially with the horror stories you hear about venues going bust at the last minute!
I'm getting married next year and have a budget of £15k to protect.
Thanks!

We bought Debswedding insurance too
All good so far, and got cashback from Quidc0!

I went for Debenhams insurance, as they seemed the most reasonably priced for the cover we needed. Not sure if it's the same now, but when we bought it I got cashback through topcashback and Debenhams also sent a £10 voucher through the post.
I hate paying for insurance too, but with a similar budget to you I felt we had to be sensible and get it protected! Better to get it sorted as soon as possible too, before you book anything, to ensure that everything is fully covered.0 -
We also have debenhams insurance and got cash back with the 10 voucher. We have Debenhams wedding insurance - got cashback via TopCashBack (I have just checked and you can still get) and a £10 off voucher. So far no complaints or problems. We also have a fairly hefty budget so I wanted to make sure we'd be protected, even though of course having it means we probably won't end up needing it..."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

I thought that Debenhams was the best deal comparatively, solely because they issued a £10 voucher. The voucher only has 30 DAYS life until it expires. We realised that there was an expiry date after it expired, the website does inform people but only in the small print. I called Debenhams to explain the situation and asked if we could have a new voucher issued. Their response via email:
Dear Mr Chana,
Thank you for your enquiry.
Unfortunately the head office at Debenhams has confirmed they are unable to issue a new gift card. At the time of purchasing your policy the terms and condition about the free £10 gift card were clearly stated on the website and stated you will have 30 days to redeem you gift card once you receive it.
Kind regards,
Debenhams Wedding Insurance
I was very disappointed as I thought that Debenhams was one of the high standards retail companies like Lewis or Marks and Spencer. I now know from my experience that they don't care about the customer relationship between themselves and myself.0 -

It did say on the letter we received what the expiry date of the voucher was very clearly. If you received the same thing then I'm afraid they are within their rights to refuse to issue you with another voucher.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170
