On the Up - a tale of survival

For those that know me I have been a user of MSE for quite a while and have had previous diaries.
I have been unemployed for a while but have been trying hard to find work to no avail. Last week, I registered online with a new agency because I had mistakenly thought they only dealt with accountants, today I had a call. As part of the work programme I had to go and see someone regularly and he got a job with this new agency and a job popped up today so apparently he shouted across the office to say that he knew just the person - me:D
To say I am feeling rather hopeful is an understatement - now I have to rummage in my wardrobe to find something smart that fits and teach myself to wear heels again (should be fun considering I still have my ankle bandaged after a horrible insect bite).
Fingers crossed that this is the start of a new beginning and an opportunity to get rid of the small amount of debt that I currently have. Must remember to apply for some free bus tickets too because the local bus company offers them to jobseekers and to those just starting work.

Oh grump - found out that I did not get the job, it would appear that the person was chosen from an interview held yesterday (one that I could not attend), hated having the rug pulled from under me but hey ho, onwards and upwards.
The quest for work continues.
Today, I took advantage of the weather and did some washing and hung it on the line, I also did a bit of weed pulling too as well as looking for work.
My neighbour keeps asking me about the dole, his daughter has lived in Turkey for the past 10 or so years and wants to jack it in, leaving a whole pile of debt behind her and return to the UK. He was asking me what benefits she would be entitled to and how long she would have to wait to receive them. To be honest I think it would be difficult for her to claim when she hasn't paid tax over here - I told him that I didn't know. I am not interested in what his daughter does or doesn't do - certainly less so after she bawled at me about her parents (they are not my parents but I do more for them and I don't even get a thank you from her).
As it is due to be wet this weekend, I shall stay home and do the housework and sort out the gubbins for a coffee & walnut cake.0
