Halifax - again!

I apologise once again for my ranting post but seriously I am at the end of my tether I have no idea what to do!

to cut a very long story short (again!) Started the process for transfer of equity back in end of may/beginning of April - I'm coming off the mortgage, ex to remain.

Paid all the fees, solicitor has done everything needed to get me off, my name is no longer on the deeds yet I'm remaining on the mortgage.

Ex has taken out a new mortgage - he's been approved, he's signed everything they are happy with his income to cover the mortgage.

This was all done in branch and started the process in April.

Since then I've been chasing 3 times a day every day - raised 3 complaints which keep getting ignored and then when I call to find out what's happening they tell me the complaint has been closed (without being resolved?!) and so they open a new one.

The lady I have been dealing with in the actual branch is also very frustrated as it was her that was dealing with it and she's only just come back after 6 weeks off and cant understand why this hasn't completed by now.
The issue was (now I have no idea what this means I'm just repeating what was said on my answer machine!) the system put it back from offer to pre offer state and that should not have happened.

She has contacted an underwriter "who knows what they are talking about" and has agreed that he will set it to complete as yes, it should not have gone back to pre offer state (?!)
The problem now is - she cant sent it to the underwriter as there are errors with the system?!and has been referred to the IT support team.

This was last Thursday - I have contacted the lady at the Halifax yesterday who didn't ring me back and same this morning so I just called the call centre and they told me I'm still on the mortgage.

Genuinely have had an absolute guts full now - I have already offered on another house at the beginning of July and new mortgage company cant proceed until I'm off! Its all going to fall through at this rate because valuation hasn't even been done yet!

Just to add - the only reason I offered on the other house was because the call centre staff told me back in may that I was off the mortgage!!

Other than raising multiple complaints is there anything else I can do to make them get their buts into gear? would a solicitor help?? anyone else I can complain to??

    Anyone please??
  • I'm not sure anyone other than Halifax can really help with this; there isn't any information there to indicate that it's any more in-depth than a (serious) system issue, I'd suggest trying to speak to the highest ranking person possible at Halifax to find out what's happening, but other than that there isn't much anyone on here can do to help.

    Best of luck with it.

    I don't understand this.

Every homemover who already has a mortgage tells their new lender their existing mortgage will be repaid on, or before, completion of the new one.

Why is your new lender not willing to accept you'll be removed then? All it has to do is put a condition in the offer to say the the old mortgage must be discharged or your name removed before completion can take place.

IMHO you are stressing because of unnecessary pressure from the new lender as much as the ineptitude of the old.

Because when I went for the new application I didn't mention I was on an existing mortgage because as far as I was concerned I wasn't as that's what I was told over 2 months ago but the call centre staff made a mistake for whatever reason so they said if i were to re-run the application and put on there that i was still on a mortgage - it would get very complicated as the mortgage wouldn't be redeemed as I'm not selling a property so again they would still need proof that the mortgage would be repaid/i would come off

I don't know why they wont put a condition on there, they are just telling me they cant go any further with it at all and cant book the valuation (even though i already paid for it last month!) until they have proof I'm no longer responsible for the mortgage.
