Moorcroft or scam?

I recently received an email from moorcroft as below:

"Our system shows that you have failed to make your latest instalment on your repayment plan. Please call our offices as soon as possible on
0161 475 2907, or via our website (cant post link but is MDRL.co.uk)
to discuss your account.
Please do not ignore this email.

The Moorcroft Group Plc."

I have no payment plan with them or outstanding debt. Googling seems to suggest this is genuine as the phone number is very similar etc. I am anxious as my details have been used by my ex in the past.

Advice much appreciated

And does this email refer to you personally by your correct name and cite a reference that you recognise? No?

This is some sort of fishing exercise - mark it as spam.

You should do a credit check every year so if you haven't done one recently, now may be the time.

Lots of scam emails doing the rounds at the moment.
The "validate your online banking" by clicking this link, is my current favourite !!:rotfl:

  • Thanks for your replies. I called moorcroft on the proper phone number and it was a genuine email, the account is a fraudulent account in my name. Thankfully it looks like it is all sorted out now.

I have found this forum a great support in the past when dealing with my debts
