Found more debt :( do I ring or wait?

Hi all,

I am currently paying off about £16k debts with various companies, I got my Equifax report today and there's several other companies I owe that I haven't got a current arrangement in place with and that haven't contacted me.

Do I ring them to see who the debt is with and then make arrangements? Or should I wait until they contact me?

I'm pretty much at my financial limit with repayments so would need to juggle some around to add new ones. But at the same time I don't want to wait and be paying for another year.

I tried with Three today as its a small amount, got given details of CARS, rang them and was told the debt was passed back to Three in June. Rang Three again, debt is definitely with CARS.

Nightmare!

Thanks for any advice.

    Hi,
Are you self managing this, or are you in a DMP ?
Personally I would wait until you are contacted by letter, as you already seem stretched financially.
If they are relatively small debts they don't usually chase them too hard, as there is little in it for them.

  • Thanks Sourcrates.

I'm self managing my debts. I have managed to get in contact with a couple that I know contacted me this year and arranged payment plans, so now I will wait for the others to contact me. I'm sure they will sooner or later.
