I decided last week that there wasn't much I could do until next month due to work (I'm a supply teacher - Summer holidays) to start sorting out our finances/debt. Well, this morning whilst browsing the forums, I saw someone mention all their 0% credit cards. Mine aren't 0% so this morning I've applied and been accepted for a 0% card for 24 months (RBS), which I can clear one other card (MBNA) with. MBNA have an offer for 0% for 15 months on balance transfers so will then be able to move the balance from my Barclaycard to it. This will mean all my debt will be at 0%.
Once this has happened I will then change my direct debit from minimum payments to a set amount so that we know where we stand each month, and hopefully will be in a position to overpay regularly.
Small steps
