Half Repayment To Full Repayment

Currently have a mortgage for £62000 - half repayment / half interest only. Edowement now cashed in.
We now require a full mortgage but current lender A&L advised that because we are changing the mortgage we will be charged fees which i think are quite excessive.
If we were just remortgaging for £36000 as originally requested these fees would not be charged.
It seems unfair that we are again being penalised for endowement shortfalls after the case.
Any ideas??

How about switching lenders?
