making crumble in a kenwood mixer ?

Options
Hi
I've checked the kenwood threads but can't find the recipe I want. I have heard you can make crumble in a mixer, does anyone have a recipe and which attachment do I use ? I only have a Kbeater, a dough hook thingy and a whisk.

For either mixer made or hand made can I make a big batch of crumble mis and freeze it ? I hate rubbing in, I just want to get that bit over with!

Thanks
Jill

  • I made crumble just last week in my kenwood major.

The recipe I used was 8oz flour (should have been plain but as I'd run out I used self raising) 4oz butter and 3oz sugar. I whizzed it all up with the k beater. It worked lovely.
I like cooking with wine......sometimes I even put it in the food!

I always use the K beater. Equal amounts butter and sugar to twice as much flour. (Reduce the sugar if you don't like it so sweet.) There is a maximum capacity to the Chef. My A701 instructions say no more than 3kg of pudding mixture, so I guess you could make quite a lot of crumble for this amount!

  • My Kenwood Chef holds 1lb of flour. Use the K beater on low speed and add sugar last. It freezes well and can be sprinkled on top of fruit and baked from frozen.

I use equal parts of butter, flour, porridge oats and sugar, a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix on a low speed with the K-beater.

Make sure you watch and stop mixing once it reaches crumbly stage - if you leave it too long it turns into a kind of dough.

I make a big batch and freeze it.
