Solar PV house selling certification

My house was installed with Solar PV back in 2011 and I registered for FIT with the MCS certificate I was issued by the installer.

The house has now Sold STC and the buyers solicitor is asking for NICEIC/NAPIT Certification for the installation.

I was unaware this was needed, as I believed the MCS certicicate covered all this. The installation company has ceased trading, so am unable to contact them about this.

Should I have been issued with NICEIC/NAPIT Certification or is the solicitor wrong?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Should have been provided with NICEIC cert - I presume this was still in required back in 2011.

To be honest, there's lots of items one should have when they sell a house. If you don't have it just tell them that.

I'd be astonished if the buyer walks away because of it.

Hiya raider. This is (admittedly) a bit of a stretch, but aren't those certifications required for DNO and OFGEM approval/acceptance? I may be wrong.

But if so, then as you suggest, and nigel points out, some stuff had to exist when we did them, even if the paperwork has since been misled. This may be enough to satisfy a housebuyer, even if the solicitor needs to ask.

Wifey and I don't have any plans to ever move, but that does make me ponder if I could actually track down all our properties paperwork now, for example DG certification. Ho hum!!

Helps to have it all to hand - I scanned everything in when we moved and handed the solicitor a memory stick - that really confused them!

BUT... it's unlikely to create a problem when selling. Ultimately, if you haven't got it you haven't got it!

Most electrical work nowadays requires EITHER that
    1) Local authority Building Control is informed. They and may inspect and will charge a fee
    OR
    2) the work is carried out by a member of a self-certification scheme who should provide the relevant certification. When I installed my PV I made sure I had the results of the wiring test showing the relevant Installer's details and registration numbers.

However, I wouldn't worry if it's missing. The buyer is unlikely to make a fuss.
