I've made embroidered pictures/cross stich samplers with the baby's name and date of birth for hanging in their rooms.
My DH (who's into genealogy) has done framed little family trees with a picture of the child in the middle then mother's family on one side and father's on the other.
I understand what's been said about 'stuff' but most people want to decorate a room for the baby so something to hang on the wall is usually acceptable.0 -
I agree about the clutter issue but found the hundreds of cute tiny clothes far more cluttering than one hand knitted doll or painted canvas because everybody else bought clothes. I guess it depends on what is needed. I'm expecting my 3rd baby and literally have all the clothes we could need. Without meaning to sound ungrateful, if people were to ask, a mothercare voucher I could put towards a car seat would be unbelievably helpful. That, or some breast pads! Anything else probably falls into the category of clutter. Maybe have a chat to mum and see if there is anything that would be useful?0

Hi
I've made personalised named cushions, stitched names on towels and appliqued names and pictures (cupcakes/aeroplanes etc)on t shirts and babygrows, but I love the idea of decorating wooden hangers, great idea.
Thanks sunnysurrey, I'm off to hunt some kids wooden hangers.....
Hi mummypops, if you have an ikea near you that's the cheapest place I found. Failing that wilkinsons used to sell white ones0
