Driving Ban

Asking this for someone who has been very stupid. If you get a driving ban in Southern Ireland does it apply in Northern Ireland? Know there was talk of this being introduced but not sure if it has yet.

Just to add that it appears the ban in NI only comes into effect when the driver is notified by DVLA in the UK. Not a get out of jail free clause by any means, but depends on the Irish authorities notifying DVLA, and them then issuing the notice.
Let's call it a grace period.0
