Harley Street Dental Imlant Centre

Apologies for my having included this in another post elsewhere but I really would appreciate as much input from people who have used this practice, or similar practices, as possible.

The Harley Street Dental Implant Centre
http://harleystreetdentalimplantcentre.co.uk/
I found an ad for them online for implants at £1200 via group on. This is less than half of what my local dentist quoted.
I rang them and had a long discussion as to how they could do it so much cheaper. From my discussions and reviewing their website it seems that it is because its a specialist and this is their main line of work. They also seem to use exclusively overseas trained dentists (could this help reduce the price?) mostly from Hungary it seems.
From what I'm told all the work will be done at their practice in Harley street, London. This is very close to where i live and so convenient.
There is an appointment available on August 12th. Assuming that all the work goes well i should be able to complete the work by November/December time but they were very careful not to make any promises.
I already have the report from another implant specialist telling me that the root is still good so this gives me confidence. I would need to pay the full £1200 upfront rather than in stages and if they can't complete it by the end of the year (24/12/14) then the voucher will expire and I'd likely have to pay the full price of £2600 (roughly what my local implant specialist quoted me) to complete the work. If, after the first consultation, they tell me that they can't complete it in the required timescales I am able to get my cashback but if the start and then find a problem that would push me beyond 24/12 then I'm stuck.
I've decided I'm going to have the impant. I'm early 30s and so will be using it for many years to come and am told that when younger the implant has a better chance of success. On this basis it is going to cost me c£2500 anyway (ap previously quoted by dentist) so i'm inclined to take the chance and get started. I see it as less of a gamble - more of an upside if I can get it done in this time.
I'm not wealthy but do have the spare cash to pay for this and see the value in it. I want the denture to be a quick fix and a short term measure.
The £1200 offer clearly has this catch but its useful that its been explained to me. Before committing any cash I will be doing alot more research and reading any terms and conditions that i can get out of them.
But does anyone know about this place? I've found it very hard to get many reviews. There are testimonials on their website but not much beyond that.
Anyone with personal experience of them?

Does anybody know any alternatives to this centre where i can get similar prices and good service?
I'm prepared to travel but would prefer somewhere in the south east or London.

Buying an implant on price is a very bad way to do it.
The 'place' is neither here nor there, it is just an address and a building. - it is the named DENTIST doing it that is the important thing.
If a place has lots of different dentists coming and going, then it doesn't matter what one person's experience is, if they have seen a completely different dentist to you.
Any dental practice that gets involved in Groupon deals has to be questionable.
Do you have a regular general dentist who you go to regularly? If not - get one! It will be this dentist who has to look after and monitor the implant on a regular basis (They are not fit-and-forget items) Find out who that dentist recommends and go and see them. It might be a few quid dearer than the cheapest discounter you can find - but you will be confident with the job, you will be confident with the back-up you would receive from that place, and your own dentist would be happier looking after it for you.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I don't understand the expiry of the deal...surely as long as the work is started within the voucher period, then it does not matter when it finishes?0

Just wanted to let you know that I had my teeth completely restored with dental implants in.....ROMANIA (city of Iasi)
My dentist here in London quoted me £38.000. It was £14000 abroad.
So, I would trust a foreign dentist, even if he comes from Eastern Europe.
Cheers!

I'm not a dentist, but would completely agree with Toothsmith's advice, especially since I'm in the final stages of having a dental implant.
The idea of buying it through Groupon worries me greatly too. I'd be concerned about why the practice felt it necessary to try to draw potential patients in through Groupon.
Implants aren't an easy fix and the process isn't particularly pleasant - although the results can be well worth it all, so I understand. Better to try to get it right first time and not to take unnecessary chances, I'd say.0 -
I have just finished my second implant in five years at this clinic. Was the best experience you can have at a dental practice. Great nurses and great doctors, all reasonably priced.
Toothsmith, the fact that you don't understand marketing is the thing you should be worried about.
I have met at least an other five patients that were having implants at this place and all of them were happy, apart from the one that had some problem and they refused to treat him.
Obviously the clinic makes its money on additional treatments they are offering. And indeed, when they showed me my CT scan I decided to sort out an other few of my teeth. I think they saved me from an other couple of more implants. :j
Not all dentist want to make a killing on one single treatment. There are people out there that are reasonable, even some dentists.
I can recommend this practice full-heartedly. Cheers:beer:0 -
