Still sick
Pleghmy cough, blocked up sinuses and conjunctivitis in my eyes. Yuk.
Had 2 days off last week but then had to go back and it was all a bit much. Can't take any days off this coming week as there are some important meetings and some stuff to do that had to be resecheduled from having time off last week.
At least I'm going on holiday again next weekend, though just hoping I am feeling better by then or it will not be much fun.
Was not very MSE yesterday, went to M&S and got 3 for £10 ready meals as I can't be bothered cooking while sick, and bought a raincoat on sale at Debenhams as well. Justified I need it but it's not really essential tbh, I was just indulging in retail therapy.
Was meant to be going out to buy some new shoes for the holiday, I haven't anything comfortable for lots of walking that is waterproof and don't want wet feet on hols. But weather today is rainy and I really can't face it. Also as I was too sick to go out last weekend I've run out of time to get new prescription sunglasses before I go, and may not be able to wear contacts if the eyes don't clear up. So will have to squint or be half-blind in normal sunnies.
Conclusion - feeling grumpy!Mortgage September 2014 £229,372 (Fixed for 2 years to Sept 2016 @ 2.49% = £1310 per month)

Thanks egoode, hope you had a good holiday?
I am still sick, not quite as bad but still feel grotty.
Am thinking of trying to get to the doctor for antibiotics ven tho I ahte taking the, I just really don't want to be sick on holiday next week as well.
Had a horrible day at work, the meeting I dread going to was as awful as usual. I was sick enough to have an excuse not to take an active role as per normal, so got shouted at slightly less than usual. Small mercies I guess. Just don't understand why some people choose to be agressive and unpleasant instead of trying to discuss things sensibly and be civil.
Anyway have just checked mortgage balance after first repayment mortgage and overpayment have gone out and it is down to £228,823. Really pleased with that.
Off to take a spoonful of manuka honey for the sore throat and then bedtime as I have another very busy day at work tomorrow. And on Friday too - why on earth did the big boss schedule a heavy duty meeting on a Friday afternoon - especially just before I go on leave for over a week.?!Mortgage September 2014 £229,372 (Fixed for 2 years to Sept 2016 @ 2.49% = £1310 per month)

Sorry to hear you are still unwell and that meeting sounds awful I generally leave jobs where they think yelling or aggressive behaviour is acceptable but I'm a contractor so it's a bit easier for me to move jobs as I don't need to worry about bonuses and long term benefits or promotions. I hope the meeting on Friday isn't as bad as feared I personally think meetings on Friday afternoons should be banned as no one is ever really wanting to be there.
I hope you feel better for your next holiday! I had a great time on mine and been working from home all week getting caught up on my washing.Starting Mortgage Balance: £264,800 (8th Aug 2014)

Hope you feel better soon.
It seems there something going round, everybody seems ill at the moment.Early retired - 18th December 2014

Hope you're on the mend. I've had a few meetings like that

I've been in the company of sneezes etc this week, including my boss yesterday and we were up close and personal (looking at laptop together!). If I catch anything I will not be 'braving it out'.
I was thinking about you and others this morning as I was looking at mr money mustache's blog and read a post about a couple in NYC who were saving lots on normal salaries. Will try to find the link when on laptop - just showed what can be done in a major city :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Got back from holidays a couple of days ago- just - BA cancelled my flight  so I was rebooked on a later one so ended up getting home at 1.30am. Spent the next day at my desk trying not to nod off. In fact still feeling a bit knackered.
Had a lovely time but it was a bit exhausting being "tour guide" to my sister and her friend who appeared not to have done any planning or reading up on what they wanted to do and were a bit indecisive. It was interesting realising how much I remember from stuff I've read though, I appear too have a cmind full of random historical information and my 4th form Latin seems to be intact in some recess of the brain.
Spent more than expected on sightseeing activities (OK, and some shoe & handbag shopping too!). Am not looking forward to adding it all up! I did manage to buy some Goretex walking shoes which I've been wanting for ages so that was a plus. No more wet feet
Downside of too much food, wine and gelato eating- have definitely put on some weight – all my clothes are too tight. So it’s diet and exercise time and back to the budget lifestyle.
Work was better the last few days but I am still feeling pretty anxious about the whole situation with the horrible meeting and people. I need to have an honest chat to my boss about it all and see where that goes as I can’t let it get me down. And as a backup, this weekend I’m updating the c.v so I can speak informally to a few agencies next week and see what the job market is like. I like to have a back-up plan, even if I don’t need to use it.Mortgage September 2014 £229,372 (Fixed for 2 years to Sept 2016 @ 2.49% = £1310 per month)

Goldie & Gally Girl, thanks for you comments earlier. Appreciated it.
NSD today and took my (healthy) lunch from home. Overspent at the farmers market on Sunday but do have a fridge of healthy stuff to show for it.
Was also pleased to find some gluten free wraps at W@itrose that actually taste nice and not of chewy cardboard. Expensive but worth it as the holiday diet (pasta, pizza, panini, quite a lot of wine
) played havoc with the IBS and I'm still recovering. I'm currently hobbling from the first gym workout on the weekend - just realised it was nearly 4 weeks since the last one so no wonder it was a bit hard going.
Had a bit of a deep & meaningful with the boss on Monday about my job and how it's been getting me down and especially the horrible meeting/people who I feel are being so unpleasant and unreasonable. There is only so much boss can do to help but hopefully we'll sort some stuff out over the next few weeks. It was a little embarrassing as I'm not great at talking feelings but I do feel better just having talked it over.
I am still updating the c.v as a Plan B though, as there is a lot of changes going on and it's too hard to predict if things will improve or not. **sigh** Could do without this at the mo.
Anyway, need to get some sleep or I'll be even worse. Emotional wobbliness and general glumness is pretty out of character for me, I'm usually pretty resilient. But I definitely don't cope as well when tired and I think I have a bit of post-viral fatigue too, have had it before and it does knock me about. Gosh this is cheerful post today.... Def time for bed

I'm glad you have a supportive boss at least. I hope things start to improve for you at work. However it never hurts to have an up to date CV and see what the market is like. Hope things start to look up for you soon.Starting Mortgage Balance: £264,800 (8th Aug 2014)
