My seven year old has just got an xbox 360.
He has the lego movie game (but I suspect all the games will be the same) where it auto saves at the next level. This is proving to be a nightmare, it takes him hours to play a level, he is only seven and likes to look around all the scenes so doesn't play properly. I don't like him to be on it for too long, this is causing arguments as he can't just save where he is up to, when he goes on it next time he has to do everything again to get to where he left off. Is there a way you can save where you are at if you have not finished a level.
Does anyone know why games have this system? when I played as a kid (many years ago
) I would just save a game and get back on where I left off so its not as if the developers cannot make this happen, for some reason they chose not to

In that game there are some things that look like ice sculptures ( can't think of a better way to describe sorry) that are dotted round some levels where you can save mid level. The trick is finding them.
Appreciate he's only 7 but the levels aren't really that long. Erm other than that don't know what to suggest unless you kinda shove him along a bit if you know what I mean. Help him.0 -
I don't know about that game (and you've got an answer above) but in some games you can save mid-level, in other games you can't.
Part of the reason for this is the potential file size of some saved games. The Xbox 360 came in various forms some of which included little storage (the Xbox 360 Core came with no storage and so the user had to acquire their own). As a result, the developers of some games err'd on the side of caution and limited saving to places in the game where they could keep file sizes to a minimum. The file size of a save that only has to remember your position, the amount of health/ammo/lives/weapons etc. you have is a lot smaller than one that has to remember a significant amount of information.
Some games also purposely remove the ability to save anywhere simply because the developers believe it adds tension and makes people less inclined to charge gung-ho into something knowing if they die then they can reload from thirty seconds earlier.0 -
I cant help with that game but some games I have you have whats called save points at various stages in the game, some games will allow you to chnage the auto save feature so it wont save automatically.0
