DWP debt repayment

Morning everyone.

I have a letter (been expecting it) from the DWP stating that I owe £756.32. I do indeed owe this from a social fund loan.

It states payment in full by 28/08/2014.

We are not in a position to pay this in full.

I have never had a DWP debt before. Would they accept £40-£50 per month? That is the maximum we can afford at the minute. I work full time and have 3 children and we are slowly trying to clear our debt.
Thanks everyone.

Bear in mind that, if you work (for an organisation with ten or more employees), they could apply for a Direct Earnings Attachment.

Have a look at this and work out how much that would take from you.

However, as you can offer to clear this in 15 months without a dea, they may well accept your offer.

Write a letter to them explaining your financial position, and make them the best offer you can, it make go better for you if you include your income/expenditure to show that's all you can realistically afford.
