In-car bluetooth

Hi all,

I am looking to get Bluetooth installed in my car (2003 Clio) so I can use my phone legally in the car whilst driving.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to any units to get and/or anywhere to install it in the car?

I would be looking for one that the sound comes out of the speakers and has a mic in the car so all I need to do is come in and switch on the Bluetooth on the phone.

Any advise/experiences received gratefully!

EDIT: Should point out that I am in the North Down area.

Robin.
Regards, Robin.

    Parrot everytime !
Iceman in Bangor is currently doing a big push on these due to the law change from £99 fitted ... and just for fairness & comparison, Halfords are also doing these kits for the same price ... my own kits where both fitted by the Iceman however, if you're looking a recommendation.

Oh really? I must give them a buzz and ask them, not too far a drive from where I am.

Edit: Called them today and will fit the CK3100 for £155 +VAT. Called iceman in bangor and he quoted £199 for the same model.

Reviews seem to suggest that it is easy to fit, just unplug existing connectors and insert the handsfree ones; if true then might buy it myself and try fitting it to save on overall cost.

Halfords have the CK3000 fitted for £79

Sounds like a good deal but does anyone knbow how good they are at fitting them?

The 'on/off' button looks like it needs a hole drilled for it and I would like to think they would use some common sense or even discuss whereabouts of where they would position it

Fitting is fairly easy if you have a standard ISO connector on your stereo (neither my car nor my wifes did meaning extra leads where required for voice buttons on the s/wheel etc...) keep this in mind.

Yeah, was looking at the installation guide online and noticed that. I think the stereo has the ISO connectors, pulled it out the other day and there were 2 big blocks full of wires and a small other block with 2 wires from memory.

Did a search for installation in a Clio and didn't see anyone talking about needing the extra cables; what type of a car was yours; a Renault too?

    Thanks.

You can get a little bluetooth unit that would be a lot cheaper.

I have seen and even gone and bought one of the little bluetooth unit similiar to the one you mention but I have a question

Why buy something with a rechargeable battery when there is a perfectly good power source in a car?

The one I got plugs into the cigarette lighter which unfortunatly stays on when the car is switched off

Relies on its own small inbuilt speaker rather than going through cars speakers.
The mic is built in - can be tricky for people to hear you
Wont cut off the car stereo if its on at the time
Ebuyer add quite a bit on for delivery to N.I.

If its that sort of system you want though, this one gets good reviews...
